Vikings' Justin Jefferson calls out team following loss to Rams
Justin Jefferson continued to play at a high level for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, but the star wide receiver feels that the team underperformed in a 30-23 loss at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
While Jefferson finished the game with eight receptions for 116 yards, an average of 14.5 yards per catch, he wasn’t happy with the team’s overall energy level.
“I felt it as soon as I came into the locker room,” Jefferson said after the loss. “I was trying to pick up the guys and everything, but still came out slow, still didn’t come out with that energy that we needed to – especially with this type of team.”
The Vikings played a sluggish first half – scoring just three points and trailing 13-3 at halftime. They went onto score 20 points in the second half, but the Rams added 17 of their own to come out on top.
Minnesota’s loss dropped it to 7-8 overall on the season. The Vikings return to action Sunday on the road against the Green Bay Packers.

Justin Jefferson breaks NFL, Odell Beckham Jr. receiving record
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has been on a tear ever since he first stepped foot into the NFL. While he had already tallied 89 receptions for 1,335 yards and nine touchdowns coming into Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, Jefferson continued to play at a high level and set a new league record.
As he already had six catches for 84 yards late in the third quarter against the Rams, Jefferson passed Odell Beckham Jr. in the category of most receiving yards in a player’s first two years in the NFL. While Beckham had 2,755, Jefferson passed that earlier in the game with 2,758 – and that number is continuing to rise.
Jefferson – the 22nd overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of LSU – came into Sunday’s game with 2,735 yards and 16 touchdowns on 177 receptions over his first two NFL seasons.
