With the baseball and softball season winding down in the state of Mississippi, the Mississippi High School Activities Association has released its Mr. Baseball and Miss Softball winners in each classification.

Among the winners is a quartet of future Mississippi State players as Chris Lemonis and Samantha Ricketts each have some talented players on the way to campus. Three of the winners are State baseball signees with a softball player also getting an honor.

Landon Harmon is the Class 2A winner for the second-straight season as the East Union RHP is wrapping up a fantastic career with the Urchins. A career .396 batter over the last four seasons, Harmon has 14 career home runs. His future, however, will be on the mound where he has been dominant in his career.

During his time at East Union, the All-American is 21-3 as a pitcher with an incredible 1.09 ERA in 41 appearances and 173.1 innings while striking out 284 batters and walking just 67. As a senior, Harmon has thrown 30.0 innings this year with a 6-0 record, 1.17 ERA, 60 strikeouts, 12 walks and five earned runs.

Harmon is also batting .554 this season with 31 hits, 35 RBI, seven home runs, five doubles and a triple. He has led his team to a 25-3 record and is hoping to get to his fourth-straight state championship series. The Urchines have two baseball titles during Harmon’s career.

In Class 4A, a rare duo won the Mr. Baseball award and they just so happen to be brothers. Purvis’ Jacob and JoJo Parker have been playing baseball together their entire lives and they plan to continue that next year in Starkville if the MLB Draft doesn’t pull them to the next level.

The brothers are All-Americans and garnering buzz as draft prospects. Jacob was signed with the Bulldogs as an outfielder and has been playing varsity ball since his seventh grade season. He has 189 career hits, 45 doubles, 34 home runs and 170 RBI. This season, Jacob is batting .481 with 37 hits, 38 RBI, nine homers, eight doubles and a triple.

JoJo was brought in for the middle infield and has batted a career .429 over the course of five seasons at Purvis. He has 191 career hits with 41 doubles and 36 RBI. As a senior, JoJo has 34 hits with a career-best .500 batting average with nine home runs, eight doubles, a triple and 26 RBI.

From the softball diamond, Brandon standout and State signee Hannah Jo Sulivan earned the Miss Softball in the state’s largest classification in 7A. Sullivan had a huge season with the other Bulldogs batting .582 with 47 hits, 13 home runs, 10 doubles, three triples and she didn’t have a single strikeout this year with 18 stolen bases.
