NASCAR Paint Schemes of the Week: Desert heat for Phoenix

This weekend we are going to get short track racing on a one-mile oval at Phoenix. NASCAR is now into the meat of the schedule. We got Daytona and Atlanta out of the way, two crap-shoot superspeedways. Then we had a race for the road course ringers at COTA, but they were defeated.
Christopher Bell already has two wins this season. William Byron has the only other checkered flag of 2025. But we aren’t here to talk about results and wins and losses. We’re talking aesthetics, folks.
So, let’s get into the best-looking cars on track this week. We typically look for new or interesting schemes and to be honest, there are a lot of basic ones this weekend. But we have a good group here.
Ross Chastain No. 1 Kubota Orange Days Chevy

This is a combination that has resulted in a lot of great results. Ross Chastain is back in the orange tractor.
Chastain could win at Phoenix. He won the championship race, although he wasn’t in the championship hunt, in 2023. Black and orange looks great. 8.5/10.
Christopher Bell No. 20 Reser’s Fine Foods Toyota

The two-time winner this season will have a new paint scheme this weekend. Phoenix is the one track Bell wants to win at this year. But he likely would prefer it to be the final race of the season.
Imagine if Bell is able to pull off three wins in a row and three of the first four races? That would be a huge statement. Expect him to be in the mix, these flat ovals match his skills. 8/10.
Joey Logano No. 22 Hunt Brothers Pizza Ford

There is something I love about these Hunt Brothers Pizza designs. A big green car with a red No. 22 on the side is just what I want to see in this paint scheme.
The defending NASCAR champion, Joey Logano, is looking to win his first race of the season. Could he pull it off and win at Phoenix again? 8/10.
William Byron No. 24 Z by HP Chevy

This Z by HP Chevy for William Byron has gotten so much better since it first debuted. Another driver who very well could be in the mix for the win this weekend.
Byron got the NASCAR season started with a bang in the Daytona 500. The back-to-back 500 champion will look to keep pace with Bell’s win count. 7.5/10.
Cole Custer No. 41 Haas/Andy’s Ford

The No. 41 car looks tasty for Phoenix! Cole Custer has brought Andy’s Frozen Custard to the NASCAR Cup Series. These colors are going to pop under the Phoenix sun.
Haas is also on this car for the weekend. Custer has had a lot of good memories at Phoenix, can he make more on Sunday? 8.5/10.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. No. 47 Ram Self Storage Chevy

I am not sure how I feel about this paint scheme. Part of me likes the greens and subtle yellowish colors throughout. Then part of me thinks it looks like a create-a-team logo from NFL Street on Gamecube.
Either way, good for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Hyak Motorsports for landing more sponsors. They are going to need them as the year goes on. ???/10.
Alex Bowman No. 48 Ally Best Friends Chevy

Best Friends is back! Alex Bowman and the No. 48 team are putting on their special paint scheme with Ally early this season.
With all the puppies on the side of the car, Bowman is hoping to get animals adopted and those in shelters taken care of. Orange and purple look so good together on a race car. 8.5/10.
Ryan Preece No. 60 Solomon Plumbing Ford

Solomon Plumbing is on the No. 60 of Ryan Preece this weekend. This is a partnership that has looked great from the start for RFK Racing.
Preece could use a good run this weekend. Maybe this paint scheme will give him a boost to do just that. 7.5/10.
Carson Hocevar No. 77 MINER Chevy

Will we see Carson Hocevar run in the front again this week? He has really put himself out there in the first month of the season.
The rest of the NASCAR Cup Series field will have to learn to deal with Hocevar. I have a feeling he will be doing this on a regular basis. This No. 77 MINER car looks great. 8/10.
