National Prep School Championships Semifinals Standouts
Hartford, Connecticut – Twenty-four of the nation’s best prep programs compete for the National Prep School Championships at the University of St. Joseph’s this week. Where there is talent, there are college coaches.
On3 saw College coaches from the following D-I programs on Thursday at the National Prep School Championships: Binghamton, San Francisco, UNC-Greensboro, Marist, Wagner, Holy Cross, Hofstra, Robert Morris, Boston U, Campbell, Albany, American, Georgia Tech, Sacred Heart, Wofford, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Hartford, NJIT, LIU, Gardner Webb, James Madison, Stoney Brook, Drexel, Air Force, etc.
On3 was courtside of the National Prep School Championships with the coaches, and here are the storylines.
7-0 F Jorge Diaz
On3’s No. 143 player in the 2022 class exploded for 33 points in the day’s opening game. After moving with his twin Guillermo from the Canary Islands, Diaz is in his first year in the United States. Diaz is a 7-foot-0 skilled forward. In this one, he knocked down six threes off various step-backs, side-steps, and step-in threes. Diaz is a highly fluid player; he moves his feet laterally well and can push the break. His coach at Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy is former college coach Jim Carr, he believes Diaz could be a three in college. Diaz may be low at 143; power five programs should act accordingly here.
Recruitment: Utah, California, Maryland. Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, and Louisville were all watching him.
5-11 CG Kanye Clary
Clary is such a smooth and fluid guard. He is an aggressive scorer, able to get to his spots in the half-court, and score from all three levels. He went for 27 in today’s game; it was an array of crafty finishes in the mid-range. Clary has a strong frame, and he has a fearless style on the ball.

6-10 C Ugonna Kingsley
Kingsley is an elite rim protector. What he does on the defensive end of the floor changes the nature of the game. He has an excellent length with natural timing and elite explosion. Kingsley moved to the United States in January from Africa. His offensive game is raw, but he does show some touch and solid hands. He plays best when chasing rebounds and out of the dunker spot. There is a world of upside, and the Putnam (CT) Science Academy post is in the conversation for the top center in the 2023 class.
Recruitment: Texas Tech, Providence, Washington State, Clemson, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Georgia, Syracuse, etc.
6-6 F Marvin Musiime-Kamali
Musiime-Kamali simply gets it done. He legitimately guards the one through five. He plays with a lot of explosion, and his length is excellent in the passing lanes. The Ashburnham (MA) Cushing Academy forward knows who he is on offense, he is an excellent off-ball cutter, and he finishes around the basket.
Recruitment: Brown, Dartmouth, etc.
6-6 SF Reid Ducharme
There is a toughness about Ducharme. He is a smooth shooter, both catch and shoot and off the two-dribble pull-up. The Wolfeboro (NH) Brewster Academy finished with a smooth 16 points with two made threes. Ducharme is a solid area rebounder and an energetic team defender. There is a lot to like about how Ducharme plays and what he brings from the wing.
Recruitment: Providence, Iowa, Syracuse, Penn State, UMass, Stanford, DePaul, etc.
