Of the 2,300-plus FBS scholarship players who have entered the NCAA Transfer Portal since it opened on December 9, more than 730 have already announced their commitments to new schools.

Among those included on that list are the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the portal, as well as 7 of the top 10 and 16 of the top 20. While there is currently a dead period for players visiting schools, that won’t slow down the commitments as players prepare to join their new teams this spring.

Below are the top transfer portal commitments thus far:

QB John Mateer – Oklahoma

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 1
Previous School: Washington State

In 2024, Mateer was given his opportunity to shine with Washington State after previously backing up Cam Ward, who transferred to Miami last year. Over the course of 12 games, he completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 3,139 yards and 29 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He added 826 yards and 15 more touchdowns on the ground, making him one of the country’s most dynamic dual-threat signal-callers.

WR Eric Singleton Jr. – Auburn

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 2
Previous School: Georgia Tech

Singleton is coming off a sophomore season with the Yellow Jackets where he was their leading receiver during each of his years in Atlanta. For his career, he’s hauled in a total of 104 catches for 1,468 yards and nine touchdowns and will be a massive addition to a talented but young receiver room on The Plains.

WR Micah Hudson – Texas A&M

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 6
Previous School: Texas Tech

One of the top players in the 2024 class, Hudson signed with Texas Tech over Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M and dozens of other offers. While dealing with injuries, he caught eight passes for 124 yards in his lone season in Lubbock before entering the portal.

He’ll get a chance to reboot closer to home with the Aggies.

WR Duce Robinson – Florida State

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 7
Previous School: USC

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound receiver caught 23 passes for 396 yards and five touchdowns during the regular season this year after hauling in 16 for 351 yards and two touchdowns in 2023. A former five-star, Robinson still has major upside and could fit into the mold of Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson in the ‘Noles offense.

SAF Dillon Thieneman – Oregon

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 8
Previous School: Purdue

Thieneman announced his intentions to enter the portal shortly after Purdue underwent a coaching change, parting ways with Ryan Walters

He was one of the centerpieces of the Boilermakers defense in 2024, leading the team with 104 tackles, including five tackles for loss and a sack. He also recorded seven passes defended in the secondary. That came after an impressive freshman season in West Lafayette. Thieneman had 106 tackles and two tackles for loss while also leading Purdue with six interceptions. That helped him earn Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and a Third Team All-American selection.

EDGE Williams Nwaneri – Nebraska

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 9
Previous School: Missouri

The former Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman announced his intentions to leave Missouri and enter the portal on Tuesday. On Thursday, he went into the portal with a do not contact tag.

Nwaneri played in just four games as a freshman after signing with the Tigers over Oklahoma, Tennessee and Georgia. However, his high school coach Jamar Mozee is now on staff at Nebraska and the Huskers moved quickly to secure him.

WR Dane Key – Nebraska

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 10
Previous School: Kentucky

In three seasons with the Wildcats, Key totaled 126 receptions for 1,870 yards and 14 touchdowns, becoming one of the SEC’s most dangerous deep threats in the process. He gives upcoming sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola a talented target to work with as the Huskers look to improve their passing game.

EDGE Princewill Umanmielen – Ole Miss

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 11
Previous School: Nebraska

Umanmielen spent two years at Nebraska, arriving as a notable recruiting win for Matt Rhule, before entering the transfer portal Dec. 9 when the window opened. This past season, he totaled 13 tackles, three tackles for loss and a half-sack. That came after an impressive freshman season in Lincoln when he had 22 tackles, five tackles for loss and a sack while playing on the defensive line.

He now joins the Rebels, who signed his brother Princely — a transfer from Florida — last offseason.

QB Fernando Mendoza – Indiana

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 12
Previous School: California

Mendoza was a hot name in the portal after completing his third collegiate season, including a redshirt in his first year, at Cal. He has appeared in 20 games over the past two years with all but one of those being starts for the Golden Bears. For his career, Mendoza is 418-629 (66.5%), throwing for 4,712 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. He also rushed for 191 yards and four more scores.

WR Nic Anderson – LSU

On3 Industry Transfer Portal Ranking: No. 13
Previous School: Oklahoma

Anderson missed the entire 2024 campaign with a nagging quad injury suffered before the season, but proved his merit with a monster 2023.

As a second-year player in 2023, Anderson recorded 31 catches for 798 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged a whopping 21.0 yards per reception, proving to be a remarkably explosive threat.
