New details revealed following Marshawn Lynch DUI arrest
More details have come out this week about the arrest of former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch. Authorities arrested the Seahawks legend for DUI on Tuesday morning near the Las Vegas strip, according to a report from TMZ. Sources said Lynch was driving into curbs on the side of the road before police pulled him over.
According to the police report obtained by TMZ, Lynch drove a 2020 Shelby GT500, which at the time of his arrest at 7:25 a.m. local was missing a tire and rim, and had several dents and dings.
The arresting officers reported that Lynch was uncooperative during the stop. They also revealed he was only wearing one shoe, he was falling in and out of sleep, and he smelled of alcohol.
Although Lynch allegedly told the cops he wasn’t drinking or doing drugs, the report reveals that he also told them he stole the car.
“Lynch was not cooperative or willing to comply with the Search Warrant and corrections officers from the City of Las Vegas had to use a restraint chair to force a blood draw,” officers wrote in the police report.
The officers booked the former running back for DUI. He is also facing charges of driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to stay in his lane and failure to surrender proof of security. A hearing on the case will take place in December.
Marshawn’s attorneys, Richard A. Schonfeld and David Z. Chesnoff, released a statement on the matter Thursday afternoon:

“Marshawn was not pulled over for a DUI. Rather the vehicle was safely parked and not in operation. We are confident that when all evidence is presented, this will not be a DUI under Nevada law. Marshawn appreciates and is thankful for everyone’s concern and support.”
Lynch arrested follows Seahawks broadcast team announcement
Lynch’s arrest comes just one day after the Seahawks announced that they plan to use him as a special correspondent on their broadcast this season. He was reportedly doing “creative content for a variety of projects.” That seems in jeopardy given his current legal situation.
This is not the first time that Marshawn Lynch faced a DUI charge. Back in July 2012, the running back also had a run-in with police. However, the charge was reduced to reckless driving after Lynch agreed to plead guilty.
A five-time Pro Bowler who spent 12 seasons in the NFL, Lynch was a member of the Seahawks team that won Super Bowl XLVIII in 2013. He began his NFL career in 2007 with the Buffalo Bills and also spent two years with the Oakland Raiders. He finished as the league’s rushing touchdown leader during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
