New development in Cowboys owner Jerry Jones paternity lawsuit
Cue Maury Povich, Jerry Jones. On Thursday, the 25-year old Texas woman who is alleging the Dallas Cowboys owner is her biological father dropped her lawsuit.
According to The Dallas Morning News, Alexandra Davis stated in court papers filed on Wednesday that she now wishes to pursue genetic testing to verify her claim.
“Alexandra has just decided that she wants to go ahead and proceed with parentage and DNA testing,” stated Jay Gray, one of Davis’ lawyers. “She wants to remove any doubts that Jerry’s her father.”
While Jones’ attorneys had asked in court filings that the suit be dismissed, they did not address the paternity claim. A representative for Jones declined to comment, per ESPN.
To illustrate, the aforementioned lawsuit alleged that Jones had a relationship with Davis’ mother, Cynthia Davis, who was working as a ticket-counter agent for American Airlines in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the time, per ESPN. Alexandra Davis was born in 1996.
Moreover, Davis and her mother reached a settlement in which Jones would support them financially as long as they didn’t publicly identify him as her father, according to court documents, via ESPN. At the time of the agreement in 1998, the Cowboys onwer denied he was the father.
Jerry Jones has been married to his wife, Gene, since 1963. Their marriage has brought them three children, and all have a front-office role with Jones’ Cowboys. Additionally, Jerry Jones is the team president and general manager of the franchise.

Furthermore, Jerry Jones has vehemently denied allegations from the get-go, opting to go through his spokesman Jim Wilkinson.
Last month, Wilkinson provided a statement regarding their claims of the paternity lawsuit being an extortion attempt.
“This whole saga and series of recent attacks amounts to nothing more than an amateurish coordination among various parties to try to shake down the Jones family for money,” Wilkinson said. “Their own filing references the divorce case so it’s clear for all to see what is really going on here.”
Time will tell where the saga turns next, but Maury Povich picked a rough time to announce his retirement from the paternity game.
