The New York Jets wasted no time to add a wide receiver to their offense in the 2022 NFL Draft, selecting former Ohio State star Garrett Wilson as the No. 10 overall pick. During the fifth round on Saturday, Jets general manager Joe Douglas discussed what Wilson brings to the table.

Wilson had quite a career at Ohio State, hauling in 143 receptions for 2,213 yards and 23 touchdowns during his four years in Columbus. He’ll take those skills to New York to pair up with Zach Wilson, and Douglas sounded very excited about that idea.

“Garrett brings a lot,” Douglas told Rece Davis on ESPN. “Excited to add him to the team. His route-running ability, you feel like he can separate … as well as anyone in the league. His ball skills, he can go up and elevate to get the ball. Run after catch. He brings a lot of different dimensions to our passing game.

“Again, get to add him to a room that has Corey Davis, that has Braxton Berrios, that has Elijah Moore, that has Denzel Mims. [He’s going to] have a great opportunity to compete in that room.”

New York Jets select Garrett Wilson in 2022 NFL Draft

Garrett Wilson was part of a three-headed monster in Ohio State’s receiving room last year, but he established himself firmly as a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. The New York Jets just made that a reality, selecting Wilson with the No. 10 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Per the On3 Consensus, Wilson an Austin, Texas native was ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2019 recruiting class and the No. 19 player overall in the country. He was rated five-stars.

Wilson also made an impact in the return game at Ohio State, returning 34 punts for 205 yards (six yards per return) in three seasons.

Now, Wilson is looking to prove himself at the next level after hearing his name called on draft night.
