Landon Collins is going back to where it all started for the next stage of his NFL career.

According to Josina Anderson, the former Alabama star is returning to the New York Giants, the team where he shined for multiple seasons after being drafted in the second round by the franchise.

“Free agent S Landon Collins tells me he is signing with the #Giants and is heading to London now to be around his new team, per him,” tweeted Anderson.

At the moment, the Giants are 3-1 and looking to continue their surprise success, and the former Alabama safety will hope to have a hand in that.

Continuing, Collins was the 33rd overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Giants, and shined immediately in his transition to the NFL. Collins was named to the Pro Football Writer’s Association All-Rookie team in his inaugural pro season and earned three Pro-Bowl nods in New York.

Moreover, Washington inked Collins to a huge contract when he hit free agency in 2019. After spending the first four seasons of his career terrorizing the Commanders as a member of the New York Giants, the franchise jumped at the opportunity to steal the safety away from their NFC East rival. However, Collins never reached the All-Pro level he was play at in New York with Washington.

Still, 2019 was solid for Collins in Washington, as he was an anchor on the young, ascending Commanders defensive unit. He started 15 games, recording 117 tackles, the most during his NFL career. The safety added four pass deflections, a sack and a forced fumble that year.

Unfortunately, injuries became the story of the former Alabama star’s time with the CommandersCollins never played a full season with the franchise, and his role was severely diminished as time went on. Washington cut their losses earlier in the offseason, releasing the former Crimson Tide star.

Some have hypothesized that the style the three-time Pro Bowler plays is better suited at the linebacker position. Back in New York with the savvy Wink Martindale as his defensive coordinator, perhaps Landon can rejuvenate his NFL career.
