On3 Top-35 offensive tackle Monroe Freeling sets commitment date
Mount Pleasant (S.C.) Oceanside Collegiate Academy offensive tackle Monroe Freeling is ready to announce his decision. The No. 35 prospect in the On300 thought about taking another official visit or two this fall first, but he has decided there is no need for that.
The 6-foot-7.5, 285-pound four-star will announce his decision Monday, Aug. 29, at 7:30pm ET. He plans to announce his commitment at D1 Sports East Cooper.
Freeling took official visits to Florida, Miami, and Notre Dame in June. He took unofficial visits to Alabama and Georgia when things opened up for a week late in July. Clemson has always been a school involved as well.
At one time, the Irish were viewed as the clear favorite to land Freeling, but the Irish have faded. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine shows Georgia trending.

Alabama jumped in late, but you can’t ever count the Crimson Tide out. Florida, Georgia, and Miami are three schools to watch very closely leading up to the decision.
Scouting Monroe Freeling
Physically-gifted offensive tackle prospect who pairs an elite frame with high-end athleticism. Has grown to around 6-foot-7, 285 pounds prior to his senior season. Has plus length to go with the stature, checking in with a 7-foot wing-span. Also a top athlete at the position. A fluid, flexible mover on the field. Moves as well as any top offensive lineman in the cycle. Tests very well in the combine setting and is a dunker on the hardwood. At his best as a second level run blocker at this stage. Still developing from a technical standpoint. Needs to improve his pass set technique and functional play strength. Physical traits and continued growth potential point to a high ceiling.
