OU lands defensive tackle in transfer portal

OU has landed a commitment from former Oklahoma State and Utah State defensive tackle Siolaa Ricky Lolohea, he announced on Tuesday.
Lolohea visited the Sooners on Monday after entering the portal last week with three years of eligibility remaining. He started his career at OSU in 2023, where he redshirted. He then transferred to Utah State last season, where he played in eight games, totaling 10 tackles and one tackle for loss. Lolohea played for new Sooners inside linebackers coach Nate Dreiling in 2024, with Dreiling being the interim head coach at Utah State.
At 6-foot-3, 330 pounds, Lolohea fits the measurables OU is looking for at defensive tackle. The Sooners wanted to add another 300-pounder up front. Lolohea will join a solid Oklahoma defensive line with Damonic Williams, Gracen Halton, Jayden Jackson and David Stone returning to Norman.

“If you’re going to be worth a dang on defense, you gotta be great up the middle,” coach Brent Venables said at the end of spring practice. “And I’m not sure if we’re going to be great yet or not. We’ll find out in time. But Dom Williams, Jayden Jackson, David Stone, Trent Wilson, amongst others. Marcus Strong really took another step in his maturation and growth and development. Really pleased with that group of guys. The ownership that group of guys has taken.”
Lolohea joins Cal running back Jaydn Ott and Stanford offensive lineman Jake Maikkula, who have joined Oklahoma’s transfer portal class this spring. And the Sooners are hoping to add a few more pieces, especially at tight end and kicker.
