Packers' Jordan Love feeling 'significantly better' after shoulder injury
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is feeling much better after sustaining a shoulder injury in the first half of last week’s preseason opener, head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday. In fact, LaFleur did not rule out the possibility of Love returning in the Packers’ next preseason game against the New York Jets.
“Potentially,” he said when asked if Love could play Sunday. “We’ll just see how the week goes and how he recovers, but he is feeling significantly better than he did on game day.”
Love completed 12 of 17 passes in Sunday’s preseason game against the Texans, throwing for 122 yards and a touchdown. With less than a minute left in the first half, Love dropped back to pass from the Packers’ own 20, and Texans’ defensive end Jonathan Greenard came around the edge and strained Love’s throwing shoulder on a strip-sack.
Love’s MRI came back clean
The injury did not appear to be serious. Not only did Love’s MRI come back clean, but the quarterback did not seem to be worried about his health after the conclusion of Sunday’s preseason game; instead, he said being held out was merely precautionary.

“Obviously, [I was sitting sitting out for] precautionary reason,” Love said. “I think I’ll be ready to go next week.”
While Love didn’t practice on Monday, LaFleur echoed that sentiment: he is healthy, but the organization wants to be smart with its backup quarterback.
“Jordan’s not going to go today,” LaFleur said. “He is feeling a lot better, but we’re going to be smart by it, too.”
