Packers put nine players on PUP list heading into training camp
Fall camp is only a few days away and NFL teams across the league are letting everyone know the players they’ve decided to put on the physically unable to perform list or PUP list, heading into the start of the upcoming season. On Friday, the Green Bay Packers placed nine players on their physically unable to perform list: Christian Watson, Robert Tonyan, Elgton Jenkins, Mason Crosby, Dean Lowry, Kylin Hill, Hauati Pututau, Randy Ramsey, and Patrick Taylor.
One thing to note about the PUP list is that all the players on it can be activated at any time. There is no time limit on how long the player must be on the list in the preseason.
The more concerning names to see on this list for Packers fans have to be wide receiver Christian Watson and tight end Robert Tonyan. The franchise drafted Watson out of North Dakota State with the No. 34 overall selection in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s expected to compete for playing time in his rookie season and landing on the PUP list certainly doesn’t help things. Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper reported on Friday evening that it’s not clear what injury is preventing Watson from being cleared to take part in practice.
Another concerning player on the list for the Packers is without a doubt, tight end Robert Tonyan. Even though his appearance on the list was likely expected, due to his recovery from his torn ACL that he suffered at the end of October against the Arizona Cardinals. Last season, he hauled in 204 receiving yards and two touchdowns in just eight games of action, before going down with his ACL injury.
Tonyan enjoyed a breakout year in 2020 for the Packers — hauling in 52 catches for 586 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. With a limited amount of pass catchers in the mix, Aaron Rodgers will be anxiously awaiting the return of the talented tight end.

Former Mississippi State running back Kylin Hill shined during the preseason last year for the Packers. For his entire Bulldog career, he rushed for 2,525 rushing yards, while racking up 16 touchdowns on the ground. As a pass catcher, he hauled in 67 total catches in his career for 631 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.
One final move to note is that the Packers also released tight end Eli Wolf. He spent time with both the Tennessee Volunteers and the Georgia Bulldogs during his college football career.
The Green Bay Packers 2022 training camp kicks off on Wednesday, July 27 with a practice at 10:30 a.m.
