Packers running back Aaron Jones was seen wearing a walking boot on his left foot following Sunday’s loss to the Lions, according to the NFL’s Week 9 injury report. Jones left the game early on with an ankle injury and did not return.

Prior to the injury, Jones had tallied 25 yards on nine carries. He spoke with ESPN postgame where he confirmed that he had X-Rays, saying they came back negative.

“A little sore,” Jones said. “I was fine. They sent me for X-rays. X-rays were fine, but they decided to hold me [out]. It was frustrating because I felt like I could have went, but they were being smart. I definitely respect them, because after I stopped moving around and I sat still for a while, it got kind of sore. I respect them.”

With Jones sidelined, AJ Dillon handled the majority of the carries to finish with 34 yards. However, it was quarterback Aaron Rodgers who led the team with 40 yards rushing.

Aaron Jones wasn’t the only Packers player to exit early due to injury, however. Linebacker Rashan Gary (knee) and receiver Christian Watson (concussion) were also banged up in Sunday’s loss.

The loss Sunday was the fifth straight for Green Bay, which saw its record drop to 3-6. Rodgers had one of his worst games all season, finishing 23-of-43 passing for 291 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

Jones’ next chance to return to action will come in Week 10 when the Packers face the Dallas Cowboys at 4:25 p.m. ET. In the meantime, the Packers will hope to try to fix their issues and avoid missing the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
