The Green Bay Packers just lost one of their offensive weapons on Sunday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills. Wide receiver Christian Watson was officially ruled out of Sunday night’s matchup after he suffered a concussion early in the first quarter. He initially walked off the field on his own power, but later in the quarter, Green Bay updated his status. Watson lasted only one drive after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. Coming into Sunday night’s game, his only touchdown during his rookie year was a 15-yard rushing touchdown against the New England Patriots in Week 4.

The Packers traded up to select Watson 34th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s one of the many pieces that Green Bay expected to step up and replace future Hall-of-Fame wide receiver Davante Adams. While playing his college football at North Dakota State, Watson hauled in 104 catches for 2,134 receiving yards, while bringing in 14 touchdowns.

Green Bay’s run defense currently ranks 27th in the NFL. Another Green Bay wide receiver, Allen Lazard was ruled out of Sunday night’s game with a shoulder injury. He did not practice on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, so that news was expected.

The Packers actually battled back in the second half and made things competitive against the Bills. They trailed the Bills 24-7 at halftime and appeared to be well on their way to getting blown out. Green Bay cut the lead to 27-17 in the fourth quarter, despite being shorthanded at multiple positions on Sunday night. That would be the final score as the Bills prevailed 27-17.
