WATCH: Patrick Mahomes frustrated on sideline after being forced into locker room for injury treatment

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was seen visibly angry on the sideline after being told to enter the locker room for treatment during the second quarter of the AFC Divisional Round. Mahomes was ready to enter the game and continue playing despite suffering an ankle injury in the first quarter of the game that left him limping heavily.

Despite his protest of the decision, Mahomes quickly jogged into the locker room for further treatment while the Jaguars were driving down the field. With Mahomes unavailable as the Chiefs took over on offense again, backup quarterback Chad Henne led the team for their first drive of the second quarter in his stead.

Patrick Mahomes frustrated on sideline at injury decision

The moment shined an even brighter light on how competitive Mahomes was on Saturday, coming quickly after a drive where the former MVP could barely put weight on his injured leg as he handed the ball off on the very next play.

Mahomes didn’t wait for the staff to even inspect him on the bench after the play, quickly limping back onto the field to finish the ongoing drive before the end of the first quarter. Mahomes appeared to be unable to put any weight on his ankle as he handed the ball off on the next couple of plays, but toughed out the end of the quarter all the same — even delivering a pass from the pocket before the break.

After finishing the drive that he was injured on, Mahomes tried to convince his team to let him finish out the half before they focused on new treatment — waving off his coaches while telling them to wait for halftime. Ultimately, the Chiefs coaching staff won the battle and forced Mahomes to come out of the game for a time.

Mahomes was listed as questionable officially after coming back to the sideline with more tape wrapped around his ankle.
