Paul Atkinson secures workout with Brooklyn Nets ahead of 2022 NBA Draft
The NBA looks keep coming for former Notre Dame forward Paul Atkinson ahead of the 2022 NBA Draft. He has another pre-draft workout coming up Tuesday.
Atkinson will work out with the Brooklyn Nets, his agent Keith Kreiter of Edge Sports told On3. Last week, Atkinson was part of a group that worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers as he hopes to hear his named called June 23. Some of the other names to work out with Los Angeles included former Vanderbilt star Scotty Pippen Jr. and former Loyola Chicago standout Lucas Williamson.
Atkinson and Blake Wesley are the two former Notre Dame players to keep their names in the draft after big 2021-22 seasons for the Fighting Irish. After transferring from Yale before the season, Atkinson put together a strong year for Mike Brey’s group, averaging 12.5 points and a team-high 6.9 rebounds per game. He was a big reason the Fighting Irish finished 24-11 overall and a 15-5 in ACC play last year. He also hit the game-winning shot during the First Four of the NCAA Tournament to send Notre dame past Rutgers and into the tournament field.

Notre Dame then defeated Alabama in the Round of 64 before seeing its season end at the hands of Texas Tech in the Round of 32. The Fighting Irish still return some big pieces from that group, including Nate Laszewski, who withdrew from the draft ahead of the deadline to maintain his college eligibility.
Notre Dame also has a solid recruiting class coming next season, including three four-stars and two top-100 recruits as part of the nation’s No. 23 recruiting class this year, according to the On3 Consensus Team Rankings. JJ Starling is a top 25 recruit and Ven-Allen Lubin is the nation’s No. 82 prospect, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
