WATCH: Eagles coach Nick Sirianni loses his gum in anger after offensive mistake

The Eagles finished the first half of the NFC Championship Game with a small mistake, leading to coach Nick Sirianni losing his gum in anger. Despite putting up a quick 14 points to take a 21-7 lead into halftime, Philadelphia’s offense drew the ire of their coach in hilarious fashion on the sideline.

Sirianni was screaming at his team for lining up with 12 men on the field for a two-point attempt and cameras caught his gum fly out of his mouth during the tirade.

Nick Sirianni loses gum and temper

The Eagles closed out the second quarter with a pair of quick touchdowns while taking advantage of a fumble from San Francisco’s fourth-string quarterback, Josh Johnson. Despite the big plays, Sirianni showed the intensity it takes to coach deep into the NFL playoffs by laying into his team after a personnel mistake.

After scoring their their third touchdown of the half, Philadelphia attempted to eke out another point by using their available timeouts that they wouldn’t get a chance to use before the half. As the broadcast team highlighted, the Eagles could bring their offense onto the field to threaten a two-point play and use a hard snap count to try and draw a San Francisco defender offsides. With timeouts to burn, they could simply call a timeout and kick the football if the 49ers defense held their water.

Unfortunately, they had to burn the timeout to avoid a penalty for having 12 players in the huddle — prompting Sirianni’s outburst.
