Mike Tomlin updates the availability of Kenny Pickett, Pat Freiermuth for Miami game

Mike Tomlin got the Pittsburgh Steelers back on a winning track Sunday, defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They did so without two key players as well, with tight end Pat Freiermuth ruled out beforehand and Kenny Pickett going down with a concussion.
An update was provided on both players by Tomlin on Tuesday, beginning with the rookie quarterback. Pickett is still in concussion protocol but his availability in practice has not changed. He will not be limited this week for Pittsburgh and if Pickett can suit up against Miami, he will do so.

“If he can play, he will play,” Tomlin said via Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Pickett has started the past two games for the Steelers and made three total appearances. Thus far, the first-round quarterback has thrown for 514 yards, a touchdown, and four interceptions with a 66.3 completion percentage.
If Pickett is not able to play on Sunday night, Mitch Trubisky will once again step into the starting role. He performed nicely in relief duty against Tampa Bay, helping the Steelers get a much-needed victory.

Mike Tomlin provides latest on Pat Freiermuth
Another key Steelers player found himself in concussion protocol this past week, as Pat Freiermuth was ruled inactive last week. Now, according to Tomlin, he should be ready to play in prime time. While the tight end has not officially been cleared, the “expectation” is that he will.
Freiermuth has been a top target in Pittsburgh this season, averaging nearly 12 yards per reception. In total, he has caught 20 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown. No matter if Trubisky or Pickett is taking snaps on Sunday Night Football, Freiermuth is going to be a key target.
The Steelers currently sit in third place in the AFC North with a 2-4 record. Tomlin has never had a losing record while in Pittsburgh, dating back to his first season in 2007. Games such as Sunday against Miami will be critical to keeping that streak alive.
