Pittsburgh Steelers name captains for the 2022 season
The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced their team captains for the 2022 season through social media. They are Mitchell Trubisky, Najee Harris, Cam Heyward, Miles Killebrew, and TJ Watt.
Several of these selections make sense. TJ Watt is one of the best defensive players in football. Meanwhile, Najee Harris is expected to be a workhorse for the offense. For his part, Cam Heyward has been a long-term, veteran presence for Pittsburgh.
One selection, however, sticks out. That would be former North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

It’s no surprise to see a quarterback be named team captain. However, Pittsburgh is in the middle of a quarterback competition. This could mean that the Steelers have made a decision on who they’re going to start this season at quarterback. He joined the team as a free agent this offseason.
“Every team needs leaders,” the Pittsburgh Steelers said in their announcement. “They are the players who set the standard, who provide the example for young players and veterans alike. They lead by their actions, often the first ones in the building in the morning, and the last to leave as they always strive to improve. They are the ones who know what to say, and more importantly when to say it. They are players who can be depended on when they are on the field, in the locker room, or off the field in any setting.”
The vote for team captains was held by the Pittsburgh Steelers players.
