Pittsburgh Steelers release Wednesday injury report vs. New Orleans
The Pittsburgh Steelers updated the injury report on Wednesday ahead of a Sunday showdown with the New Orleans Saints.
The biggest injury news is that kicker Chris Boswell didn’t practice after missing the game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a right groin injury. The Steelers have made a related roster move to add a kicker.
A number of names that have been on the injury report for a number of weeks this season are still there, namely cornerbacks Ahkello Witherspoon and Levi Wallace. Witherspoon didn’t practice on Wednesday while dealing with a hamstring injury, and Wallace fully practiced despite a shoulder injury.
More defenders dot the report for the Steelers: Cornerback William Jackson III, linebacker Myles Jack and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi were all listed.
And lastly, long snapper Chris Kuntz popped up on the report, but was a full participant with a rib injury.

The Steelers signed Matthew Wright to kick for Boswell
The Steelers announced that they signed kicker Matthew Wright to their 53-man roster.
Wright had previously been on the Kansas City Chiefs‘ practice squad. That means that Wright will need to be on Pittsburgh’s roster for at least three games. This, of course, implies that Boswell is going to have to miss multiple weeks before he is able to return from injury.
This is Wright’s third season in the NFL. He has played for Pittsburgh as a rookie, before moving on to Jacksonville and then Kansas City. While he played for the Steelers, Wright appeared in three games and scored 19 points without missing an extra point or field goal.

For his NFL career, Wright has appeared in 19 games, primarily for Jacksonville. He has an 87.5% field goal percentage and 93.3% on extra points. He has never missed a field goal under 40 yards and his career-long is 59 yards long.
During college, Wright played for UCF. There, he was a key contributor on special teams for the undefeated 2017 team and was a two-time Second-Team All-AAC selection. He also holds career records for points (375) and field goals made (55) at UCF.
