A pair of second-year talents showed out in the Summer League when Quentin Grimes delivered a perfect pass for a Jericho Sims dunk. The former Big 12 rivals joined forces on the New York Knicks last season after the Clippers traded Grimes after drafting him in the first round.

While blowing out the Bulls, Grimes made a hard drive to the basket from the three-point line and collapsed the defense — leaving Sims open right behind him in front of the hoop. Grimes dropped the ball off with a perfect no-look pass, letting Sims throw it down with two hands as he got fouled.

Grimes began his college career with Kansas while Sims was a sophomore at Texas, battling in the Big 12 before he continued his career with Houston the following two years. Both players were drafted in the 2021 NBA Draft — Grimes in the first round and Sims in the second round — and were teammates last season on a rebuilding Knicks team.

Sims and Grimes showed out as they blew out the Bulls 101-69, with Sims recording a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Grimes led the game with 24 points, as both players played just 23 minutes and left the court with a +23 plus/minus each in the victory.

The Knicks’ young talent has been on full display early on in the Summer League, as they began 2-0 after beating the Golden State Warriors and the Chicago Bulls. The Knicks are averaging 101 points per game — best in the Summer League — and only allowing 78.5 points through both games as they dominate on both sides of the ball.

Sims and Grimes have a short turnaround before their next game action, as the Knicks play the Portland Trailblazers on Monday night in their third game of the Summer League in Las Vegas.
