Ranking College Football Playoff Odds for all 12 CFP teams
The latest College Football Playoff odds are out for all 12 teams in the bracket as far as their national championship chances.
Based on the resume, the results on the field and the path for each team, FanDuel provided its most updated odds for the playoff. It all kicks off Friday night in the first round.
Let’s dive into the College Football Playoff odds for all 12 teams, via FanDuel.
1. Oregon (+350)
Oregon went undefeated and grabbed the top seed in the playoff this year. The Ducks have the shortest odds to win it all as they already have a bye to the quarterfinals.
Led by Heisman finalist Dillon Gabriel, this is clearly Dan Lanning’s best squad to date. They’ll welcome Ohio State or Tennessee in the quarterfinals.
2. Texas (+360)
Texas has to play a first round playoff game following a loss in the SEC Championship. But the oddsmakers like their chances to make a run and win it all.
It begins with a home game with Clemson in the first round, with the winner advancing to play Arizona State. So, the path seems favorable to get to the semifinals, where a date with Oregon awaits, should the seeds hold over there.
3. Georgia (+500)
Georgia’s chances likely hinge on the health of Carson Beck or if Gunner Stockton can actually pilot the ship at QB. But, the Bulldogs have a first round bye in the playoffs.
As the No. 2 seed, they’ll await Notre Dame or Indiana in the quarterfinals and could face one of Boise State, Penn State or SMU in the semifinals. The path looks good right now for Kirby Smart and crew.
4. Ohio State (+500)
Ohio State lost to Michigan and then missed out on the Big Ten Championship Game. So with that, they received the No. 8 seed in the playoff and will host Tennessee.
The winner takes on Oregon in the next round but on paper, Ohio State is still one of the most talented teams. Right now, that’s what the oddsmakers are banking on.
5. Penn State (+550)
Penn State has arguably the most favorable path to win it all, that’s what some analysts will lead you to believe. First, they have to host a first round playoff game against SMU for a chance to play Boise State.
Should Penn State win two games in a row, they could get Georgia, Notre Dame or Indiana in the semifinals. It seems like a national title is well within reach based on the odds.
6. Notre Dame (+700)
Notre Dame: yes the Fighting Irish have top half odds in the playoff. They’ll host the Cinderella Indiana Hoosiers in the first round before getting a crack at Georgia, in the event of a win of course.
Marcus Freeman’s team is humming right now as they’ve won 10 games in a row. They got a week off with no conference championship to get ready for Indiana coming into South Bend.
7. Tennessee (+2,500)
Now we get to the longshots of the playoff, based on the odds at least. Tennessee is a longshot simply because they have to play Ohio State in the first round before taking on Oregon.
That’s a rough first two games on the road and at a neutral site. Still, if the Vols manage to win those two games, they might just be good enough to win the whole thing.

8. SMU (+4,000)
SMU managed to get into the playoff despite losing the ACC Championship to Clemson. Alabama fans definitely didn’t like that.
The Mustangs have the fire power to compete with Penn State on the road and could match up quite well with Boise State. But with a lack of monumental wins this season, it’d be tough to win two in a row and eventually play someone like Georgia to just punch a ticket to a national championship game.
9. Indiana (+4,000)
The Hoosiers were dominated in their lone loss to Ohio State this season and have a tough defensive matchup with Notre Dame this Friday night. So can Indiana advance in the playoff?
Sure they can. But to beat Notre Dame and Georgia back to back to get to the semifinals? It seems like a tall task but the Hoosiers were the surprise of college football all year anyway.
10. Arizona State (+6,000)
Arizona State was picked to finish last in the Big 12 this year and they ended up as conference champs and in the playoff. Led by running back Cam Skattebo, the Sun Devils could make some noise.
With a first round bye, they’re one step closer to winning it all. But they have to welcome Texas or Clemson in quarterfinals before playing Oregon, Ohio State or Tennessee in the semifinals. It’s a tough task, but don’t count this team out immediately.
11. Clemson (+6,000)
Don’t doubt Clemson and Dabo Swinney anymore folks! They’re back in the playoff in the transfer portal era with practically a fully developed squad! Since they won the ACC but were ranked outside the top 12, they are the No. 12 seed.
Having to go to Texas is a tough task for the Tigers. But if they win this one, it’d be hard to pick against them going up against Arizona State in the quarterfinals. Still a long shot based on the odds.
12. Boise State (+6,000)
Now we get to Boise State which might have been overlooked all year. They have Heisman runner up Ashton Jeanty and running back and sport a 12-1 record.
Don’t forget, this team is the No. 3 seed in the playoff. But they have the longest odds to win it all. They’ll take on Penn State or SMU in the quarterfinals and take on Georgia, Notre Dame or Indiana in the semifinals, based on the path. Never say never folks.
The College Football Playoff begins Friday night with Indiana at Notre Dame and then continues with three first round games Saturday.
