Ranking the Contenders for 5-star forward Omaha Biliew
Omaha Biliew is the 2023 On3 Consensus No. 6 ranked player. Since entering high school, he has sat in the top ten of this class. Even being a player whose name everyone knows, his recruitment has been relatively quiet.
The last year has been big for Biliew’s growth. He first helped lead his Branson (MO) Link Academy team to the second round of the Geico National Championships. He followed that up with a standout showing in Portland, Oregon, for the Nike Hoop Summit. And he has parlayed that into standout performances on Nike’s EYBL Circuit.
However, things are starting to clear up on the recruiting front for Omaha Biliew. Here is how I rank the contenders.
1. Iowa State
Omaha Biliew is from Waukee, Iowa. His first offer was from Iowa State, and his first campus visit was to Ames, Iowa. In speaking with Biliew, you hear the relationship he has already formed with TJ Otzelberger.
Biliew also transferred back to Waukee (IA) High to play his senior season. There is a lot of history with Biliew and the Iowa State program, and the relationship with the new staff is as strong as ever.

Iowa State’s chances: 75-percent
2. G-League
According to Biliew, no offer has been put on the table yet. He has been open about the fact that he would listen to them if that were an option. Biliew has also said that he is leaning toward playing in college. However, none of this matters because no offer has been extended yet. If an offer does come down the pipeline, this percentage could rise.
G-League’s chances: 20-percent
3. Oregon
A couple of pulls toward Eugene are in play here that have nothing to do with the program; Nike is one. Biliew has played travel ball in Nike gear since middle school. The other is Oregon was the first state he ever traveled to, and he loves the state. He likes Dana Altman, and the two have formed an honest bond.
Oregon’s chances: 4-percent
4. Kansas
Kansas made Biliew’s final list. They are the reigning national championship and have a track record with bigs. They made this list because they were on his list. I don’t see him going there.
Kansas’ chances: 1-percent
Final thought
The long history Omaha Biliew has with the Iowa State program, and the relationship he has built with new head coach TJ Otzelberger has Iowa State way out in front of this one. The G-League could spice things up a bit if they extend an offer, but as of pressing ‘publish’ on this article, watch for the Cyclones here.
