Rece Davis isn’t worried about Georgia despite its underwhelming 13-12 win over Kentucky in Week 3. On Wednesday, the ESPN analyst made the case for the Bulldogs still being the best team in the country.

“Way too much is being made of this [performance],” Davis said of Georgia’s lackluster showing against UK. “In the AP Poll, I do have Texas No. 1 because I think they’ve earned it. But, prior to that, I had Georgia No. 1. And nothing has changed to me, in my belief, that the most complete roster and the best overall team, all facets — all due respect to Ohio State — is Georgia.”

Georgia’s offense sputtered in its 13-12 win over Kentucky, only amassing 262 total yards. Although the Bulldogs didn’t commit any turnovers, they recorded nine penalties for a total loss of 85 yards. Further, the Bulldogs only converted 5-of-their-13 third-down attempts.

While Georgia’s showing was far from perfect, the team ultimately walked away with a win. UGA head coach Kirby Smart didn’t lose any confidence despite their subpar performance.

“They never flinched,” Smart said. “We thought this would be a blow-by-blow game. We talked all week about blow-by-blow, delivering more blows than them. We said the first chop of the tree doesn’t chop the tree down. It takes sometimes 272 axe chops, and it took every single one tonight to get the job done.”

The Bulldogs didn’t need to annihilate the Wildcats to prove how talented they are. In Week 1, Georgia dominated Clemson 34-3, rattling off 447 yards of offense against the Tigers while holding them to 188.

Since then, Clemson has won back-to-back games in blowout fashion, only reinforcing how impressive Georgia’s season-opening triumph was. Now, Davis expects Georgia to put its prowess on full display again as it invades Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday to square off against No. 4 Alabama.

“I imagine Georgia is going to step onto Saban Field Saturday night, intent on proving that now that the GOAT’s gone, we might have won a couple of championships, but now we’re really running this place,” Davis said.

On Saturday, Georgia and Alabama will go head-to-head at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will air live on ABC.
