New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara missed practice Wednesday with a knee injury, according to NewOrleans.Football reporter Nick Underhill. The four-time Pro Bowler suffered the injury during Sunday’s 27-25 loss against the Atlanta Falcons.

“Alvin Kamara was not in attendance with the rest of his teammates during the media portion of practice,” Underhill said in a video posted on Twitter. “[I’m] expecting him to be listed later on this afternoon with a knee injury. It’s not a major situation, sounds like it’s something that’s more day-to-day, but it does threaten his status for this week against the Tennessee Titans. So that’s something to watch throughout the week to see how it develops. There is a chance that Kamara could play, even if he doesn’t practice this week if – for some reason – he gets healthy by Sunday. But no guarantees at this point.”

This update provides great doubt for the New Orleans Saints, who are 5-3 with a road game against Tennessee on deck. Despite success against the NFC’s best like the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints have struggled to take care of lesser opponents like the Falcons, New York Giants and Carolina Panthers.

With upcoming games against the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans will need to capitalize on its chances to take wins with backup quarterback Trevor Siemian at the helm. Taking away his top offensive weapon would severely hurt their chances of capitalizing on Tennessee’s own injury problems.

Saints work out multiple running backs

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been the subject of injury rumors following an extended stay in the medical tent Sunday afternoon. During the third quarter of the Saints’ 27-25 loss against the Atlanta Falcons, met with medical staff on the sideline.

With rumors about Alvin Kamara’s knee injury moving forward, the Saints worked out three running backs this week. Nick Underhill reports Kerryon Johnson, Rodney Smith and Josh Adams participated in the precautionary workout.

The Saints also recently added veteran Mark Ingram in a trade with the Houston Texans ahead of the NFL trade deadline.

Kamara’s role within the Saints offense has never been more important, with starting quarterback Jameis Winston out with an ACL tear and wide receiver Michael Thomas still out with continued injury complications which kept him out all season.

He has 530 rushing yards with three touchdowns, adding 310 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2021.
