It’s been an offseason full of change for the Chicago Bears’ organization. After firing former head coach Matt Nagy and hiring Matt Eberflus as the team’s next head man, the Bears have now made another important hire – this one in a key front office position.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Bears are hiring Ian Cunningham – who served as the Philadelphia Eagles’ director of player personnel in 2021 – as their new assistant general manager. He’ll work directly under Bears general manager Ryan Poles.
“A top lieutenant for Ryan Poles, and now the Eagles lose a key front office member,” Rapoport wrote on Twitter.
Cunningham spent five seasons with the Eagles in the roles of director of college scouting, assistant director of player personnel and most recently director of player personnel. He’s worked in the NFL for 14 seasons.

The Chicago Bears are making major moves to revamp the organization.
On Thursday, the Bears became the second team to make an offseason hire by inking a deal with former Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus to lead the organization.

With a defensive-minded head coach taking over a team with a young, talented first-round quarterback in Justin Fields as the hopeful future franchise passer, it appears the new Chicago Bears front man isn’t wasting time to address his development.
On Friday, longtime Packers’ reporter Tom Silverstein reported the Bears have already made an offer to Green Bay pass-game coordinator Luke Getsy to become the new offensive coordinator in Chicago.
“According to a source, Packers QBs coach/passing game coordinator has an offer to become offensive coordinator under new Bears coach Matt Eberflus,” Silverstein wrote on Twitter. “It’s his job if he wants, a source said. Benefit over GB is that he could call plays.”
