Dan Quinn was arguably the hottest name throughout the 2022 head coaching cycle. Throughout, the Cowboys defensive coordinator interviewed for openings with the New York Giants, Chicago Bears and Denver Broncos.

However, the time wasn’t right for Quinn to return to being a head coach. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Quinn has informed teams he’s remaining with Dallas.

“Dan Quinn has informed teams that he’s staying with the #Cowboys, per sources,” revealed Pelissero. “Six teams requested head-coaching interviews with Quinn, who decided he wanted to return to Dallas and try to win a Super Bowl. He should be a hot name again next year.”

Due to the resurgence of the Dallas defense and his bountiful experience as a head coach, Quinn was expected to takeover a new franchise. Alas, the timing wasn’t right.

Nevertheless, the Cowboys will be happy to see Dan Quinn return to their franchise for another season.

More on Dan Quinn, Dallas Cowboys

While Dan Quinn was a quality candidate, the jobs he was most interested in went in different directions.

First, the Denver Broncos were linked heavily to Quinn. However, the franchise chose to go with Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as their coach. Now, eyes will be on a potential move featuring Aaron Rodgers joining the Denver Broncos.

Afterwards, the Bears honed in on their next head coach, choosing Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as their new leader. Instead of a proven defensive head coach like Quinn, the Bears are choosing a first-time head coach in Eberflus to run their team.

Finally, Quinn was reported to have interest in the New York Giants opening. However, it looks like the franchise will be choosing between Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll or former Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores as their next coach. Instead, Quinn will face the Giants twice a season as the Dallas defensive coordinator.

While Dan Quinn didn’t get a head coaching gig in 2022, he’ll be a hot candidate again next season. For now, Dallas will enjoy another season with Quinn as their defensive coordinator.
