The Falcons are bringing back one of their biggest offensive stars, agreeing to terms with offensive weapon Cordarrelle Patterson. According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, Atlanta is keeping one of their most productive players on offense.

“The #Falcons have agreed to terms with WR/RB/S Cordarrelle Patterson for the do-everything guy to return to Atlanta, source says,” tweeted Garafolo. “Arthur Smith, Dave Ragone & Co. keep a key offensive piece coming off career-highs in touches (205), yards from scrimmage (1166) and TDs (11).”

It’s tough to have a breakout season with your fifth NFL franchise and after you turn 30. Still, that’s exactly what Patterson did in Atlanta last season. Devoid of offensive weapons, Falcons coach Arthur Smith put the ball in the hands of the former Tennessee star. In doing so, he unlocked the potential that’s been hiding under the surface since Patterson came into the NFL.

A former first round pick by the Minnesota Vikings, it’s evident that the football world expected a breakout much sooner from Patterson. However, better late than never. Time will tell if his season with the Falcons was a fluke, or if Patterson is really one of the most explosive players in the league.

Nevertheless, Cordarrelle Patterson will have ample opportunities to prove his worth as he returns to Atlanta with the Falcons.

Deshaun Watson chooses Cleveland Browns over Atlanta Falcons

Moreover, after a week of speculation, the decision is in. Deshaun Watson is heading to the Cleveland Browns in a shocking change of mind, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Houston Texans are trading Watson to the Cleveland Browns, according to Schefter, who said the teams must still finalize details. Trade rumors were rampant this week after a grand jury determined Watson wouldn’t face any criminal charges from several lawsuits against him. The details of the trade were released on Thursday afternoon. The Cleveland Browns will be trading three first round picks and two additional picks to the Houston Texans, per NFL Network’s Albert Breer.

Watson, the No. 12 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, didn’t play in 2021. He has a no-trade clause in his contract, meaning he could decide his next team if the Texans traded him. Multiple teams reportedly met with him, including the Cleveland Browns, before he decided on the Browns.

Thursday, reports surfaced saying Watson eliminated the Browns from his short list of destinations. That left the Falcons and Saints as potential trade partners. The Browns won out, and he’ll suit up for them in 2022.

Without Watson, the Texans went 4-13 in 2021. They ended up firing coach David Culley at season’s end and promoted Lovie Smith to replace him.
