Report: Tennessee Titans update running back Derrick Henry's status
Tennessee Titans standout running back Derrick Henry is close to making his highly anticipated return. After suffering a fractured foot in a Halloween win over the Indianapolis Colts and undergoing surgery days later, Henry is set to be back on the field for the Titans just in time for the playoffs.
According to a report from Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network, Tennessee is expecting Henry to be at practice on Wednesday.
“Titans are expecting star RB Derrick Henry to be at practice tomorrow, I’m told, setting the stage for a playoff return. He’s been ramping up toward this,” Wolfe wrote on Twitter.
Prior to his injury, Henry – the former Alabama star – was having a strong season for the Titans, having rushed for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns on 219 carries. He tallied 28 carries for 68 yards against the Colts on Oct. 31 – his last time out.
The Titans are currently 11-5 overall and coming off a dominant 34-3 win over the Miami Dolphins – a victory that clinched the AFC South and put them in the AFC’s No. 1 spot. Tennessee will conclude its regular season on Sunday on the road against the Houston Texas (4-12). Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
