Reports: Deshaun Watson faces another potential indictment in Texas following trade to Browns
Deshaun Watson has more to sort out in the courtroom. According to Fox 8 in Cleveland, a second grand jury in Texas heard evidence against Watson on Wednesday.
“The Fox 8 I-Team has learned a second grand jury in another Texas county has convened to hear evidence against Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson,” reported Fox 8. “The grand jury met Wednesday to hear evidence in the case.”
According to Watson’s attorney Rusty Hardin, the complaint was filed by one of the women who is involved in the civil case lawsuit.
“It’s not a new complaint,” said Hardin, via Fox 8.
Additionally, Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network reported Hardin’s explanation for the complaint.
“Rusty Hardin said the criminal complaint in Brazoria County stems from a massage therapy session conducted in Pearland, TX, which is why it was referred to Brazoria County, not Harris County district attorney’s office,” tweeted Wilson.
Moreover, the Browns acquired the former Texans quarterback after he was cleared of criminal charges. According to Fox 8, the franchise is aware of the newly-announced case.
The Browns gave Deshaun Watson one of the richest contracts in NFL history as a way to convince him to join the franchise. Still, the franchise and their quarterback will be battling legal matters and public reception — regardless of what happens on the field.

More on Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns
Moreover, the Houston Texans are apparently getting more than was initially reported for trading Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that Cleveland will add a fourth round pick in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft, bringing the total package to six picks.
In all, the Browns give up three first round picks (2022, 2023, 2024), one third round pick (2023) and two fourth round picks (2022, 2024) in the finalized deal for Watson and a sixth round pick in 2024.
The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback also signed a five-year, $230 million contract with Cleveland as part of the trade. All of that money is guaranteed, with the Browns set to take an estimated cap hit of $54.9 million for the 2023-26 seasons. Watson’s contract is loaded with a total signing bonus of $44,965,000. He’ll receive this season along with the minimum salary of $1,035,000.
Houston is coming off 4-13 finish to the 2021 season, and recently hired a new head coach in Lovie Smith. With their recent acquisition of several draft picks, the Texans look to set up nicely for the future according to general manager Nick Caserio.
