Silas Demary, Jr. is winning on the court and in recruiting

Charlotte (N.C.) Liberty Heights junior Silas Demary is one of the top-rated players in North Carolina’s deep 2023 class. He is also one of the most accomplished winners in the country. The 6-foot-5 guard is 34-1 over his last two seasons of high school basketball, winning a state championship and a Beach Ball Classic championship in that span.
“I’m an all-around type of guard,” Demary told On3 Sports. “I get my offense going with my defense and get my teammates involved. I have improved with being a leader talking throughout the whole game. I’ve heard I play like Marcus Smart.”
Demary, Jr’s Recruitment
College programs have taken note of his winning ways because with Team Curry this summer, Demary also won a 16u UAA championship, going undefeated in league play.
“Right now, I have offers from St John’s, Wichita State, VCU, Providence, Texas A&M, Elon, Coastal Carolina, Radford, and Western Carolina,” Demary said. “I have taken unofficial visits to Elon, Virginia Tech, St John’s, and Western Carolina.”
Silas Demary, Jr. breaks it down
St John’s: “I started talking with them once I got to Liberty Heights; Coach Mike (Wright) got me talking with them. In October, I went on a visit, and they were talking about how much they liked me as a player. I think that visit really showed me how good of a school they were and their program.”
Wichita State: “They are a big-time program. They are on the come up right now and really started to do well. I know they also have put a few guards in the league. I’m eager to get out there and see them; I think I could be really interested in them.”
Providence: “They like big guards there, and I am a bigger guard. They think I can come in and play. They like the way I play defense and that I can score too.”

Texas A&M: “They really want me to get out there on a visit. They like that I am a bigger guard and that I can get out there and assert myself on the defensive side.”
“For schools who haven’t offered, I am hearing from Virginia, UCF, Cincinnati, and NC State the most.”
Demary’s Take
“I’ll be looking for a family-type program with a family atmosphere and a winning program,” Demary said. “I got to have that. I want to go somewhere where I know I can fit in and get along with all the players who are there.”
On3’s Take
Silas Demary is someone who brings a winning attitude to the floor by making winning plays. At 6-5, he has length and tenacity on the defensive end of the floor, making him one of the region’s premier perimeter defenders. Demary is a natural downhill guard who has good floor vision. He will continue to get stronger, and he needs to continue tightening the jump shot, but Demary is a player who affects winning.
