Irmo (S.C.) four-star wide receiver Donovan Murph is one of the top uncommitted football prospects in the 2025 class and a major target for South Carolina.

Murph is set to announce his decision on Thursday during the Under Armour All-America Game just outside Orlando. He told On3’s Chad Simmons last week that five schools will have hats on the table when he decides: ClemsonColoradoOle MissSouth Carolina and Tennessee.

“I’ve been to those schools and I’ve been able to build a connection with the coaches and staff there,” Murph told Simmons. “I’ve been able to see what they’re doing. A lot of the teams are, if not Playoff teams, nine-win teams. I see a future at those schools and they’ve been able to build a relationship with me. I really feel like home at a lot of those places.”

Just a few days out from commitment day, the Gamecocks are trending as the favorite to land him in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). They’ve have received multiple predictions in their favor, first from On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong in October and most recently Ole Miss insider Zach Berry earlier this week.

The 6-foot-1.5, 190-pound wideout has been on campus at each of his finalists. But only the two in-state schools have hosted him officially since he reclassified to the 2025 cycle on Oct. 1.  He was in Columbia for the Gamecocks’ game against Texas A&M on Nov. 2 and tripped to Clemson a few weeks later.

Murph would add another key piece to top-20 Gamecocks class

While they were initially pursuing him as part of their 2026 class, South Carolina also wants Murph in their ’25 class, which currently ranks No. 19 nationally in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Shane Beamer and Co. signed 25 players during the Early Signing Period this month, including 15 blue-chippers and the No. 1 junior college recruit Zavion Hardy.

Among those more than two dozen signees are 11 in-state recruits. Landing Murph would give them an even dozen, as well as giving them 8 of the top 13 prospects in the Palmetto State this cycle.
