On Monday, On3 updated its class of 2026 player rankings and extended the list from 100 to 150 players. This is the first update for the 2026 class to have a full 150 players. The movement and additions are based on 1) in-person player evaluations from the high school season and 2) film study and intel gathered on prospects since the initial update.

Updated 2026 On3 150 player rankings

Since the last update in March, the On3 team has attended high school events and games across the country, With multiple showcases taking place every week(end), On3 has also collected streams and film to comb through the maximum exposure of countless events and players.

The ranking process is a continual and often fluid one. On3 starts ranking recruits after their freshman-year travel seasons, prior to their sophomore years of high school. Each recruit can look a lot different for our final ranking after their senior year championships and all-star games are played.

We have spent the last several weeks working on this 2026 update, so it will reflect the most accurate and current representation of the recruiting cycle. This work has resulted in 52 players making their debuts in the expanded On3 150. We have also continued collecting viewings and data on the previously ranked players, putting eyes on them since the previous update.

These prospects have completed their sophomore high school seasons, and the spring portion of their travel seasons. Our next class update for 2026 will come prior to the start of their junior high school seasons.

The goal of rankings at On3 is to assess a prospect’s long-term potential. As we continue forward, a player’s performance on the court and their continued growth will outweigh the earlier rankings. Again, every player’s arc is different, and each ranking is a snapshot in time.

Updated 2026 Player Rankings

Here are some storylines from On3’s first update of the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Grading the 2026 On3 100

The basketball player rankings scale is as follows: five-star prospects have grades 98-100, four-star recruits have grades 90-97, and 80-89 grades are for three stars.

The first two prospects are five starts with a rating of 98 or higher. The players ranked No. 3 to 69 are classified as four-star prospects with grades from 90-97. The remainder of the 100 and position rankings are considered three-star prospects.

Our goal is to assess a prospect’s long-term potential, ultimately manifested by the NBA Draft. The goal of the ranking is not to assess who had the best high school career or who will be the best college player. This is why we will shoot to end each cycle with 14 five-star prospects, following the lead of the NBA Draft Lottery. Our vision, as we end each cycle is draft night.

Brandon McCoy holds on to No. 1 ranking

The conversation surroudning No. 1 in this 2026 ranking update was an interesting one. Three players were involved, as we ultimately stayed the course keeping Brandon McCoy in the top spot.

Tyran Stokes and Caleb Holt pushed McCoy for that top spot this go-around, and this is a conversation we fully expect to continue as we update this cycle more. Stokes is a 6-foot-7 forward at Napa (CA) Prolific Prep. He is a wildly explosive and physically developed wing that is averaging 20.3 points while shooting 40 percent from three with the Oakland Soldiers, playing up on Nike’s EYBL Circuit this summer.

Holt is a 6-foot-5 guard from Huntsville (AL) Buckhorn High. The 6-foot-5 guard is a strong defensive presence with a great frame and is learning to be comfortable making decisions on the ball. Holt is averaging 18.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and almost three assists and two steals per game playing up with the Game Elite program on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit this summer.

While those two players pushed Holt, the overall decision landed with McCoy. McCoy is a long-armed, 6-foot-5 guard who has been able to toggle playing between the one and the two relatively seamless. He has a crafty handle and can get to his spots on the floor, which also leads to his ability to put pressure on the defense by touching the paint regularly.

However, what shines the most with McCoy is his defense presence. He has a real ‘want-to’ when guarding the ball, able to move his feet and switch down a line up. McCoy still needs to tighten some things, like the consistency of his jump shot when shooting off movement, but the overall positional value his top-end outcome brings is hard to ignore at this point in his development.

While McCoy remains atop the rankings for the 2026 class, continue to monitor each of the three players in this On3 150 conversation as we move forward. This could make a for a fun cycle at the top.

All three players are currently playing for the USA Basketball U17 team in the FIBA World Games in Istanbul, Turkey.

Caleb Holt earns fifth star

While the number beside Caleb Holt’s name in these rankings did not move up, his play has elevated into a new tier as he earned his fifth star in this most recent update. Now, this 2026 cycle has three five star players in total. As we mentioned above, we aim to end each cycle with 14 five stars, but we do not want to get in the business of giving and taking away stars at the top. So throughout the process we attempt to be very deliberate when giving out a fifth star. Holt’s play has continued to rise, putting him in that top tier of his class.

Holt is a 6-foot-5 guard who has always been a two-way threat. Where his biggest development has come has been with his ability to play on the ball and his shooting. Through the early stages of his travel ball play with the Game Elite program, Holt has shown that he is comfortable with some initiation responsibility and playing as a secondary initiator. He has also tightened up his jump shot, shooting a more clean ball with a balanced shot load and release. Holt has always been a slashing scorer and a lock down, multi-positional defender, and that has not changed.

His impact on winning has also not changed. He simply has continued to grow and develop his game, which has put him firmly in the top tier of his class and entered him in the conversation for the top.
