LOOK: Stephen Curry honors Craig Sager with special sneakers in Game 4 of playoffs

It’s been more than five years since legendary sportscaster Craig Sager passed away. Monday night, Stephen Curry found a cool way to honor him.
Sager was known for his eccentric attire, notably his jackets. That’s why Curry wore similarly flashy shoes during Game 4 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Monday.
Curry and the Warriors are facing Memphis at the Chase Center, and after the game, he plans to sign the shoes and auction them off for charity. All proceeds will go to the SagerStrong Foundation, which raises money toward leukemia and other cancer research.
Sager worked as a report from 1981 until his death in 2016, but became best known for his NBA coverage on TNT. He worked the sidelines for the network for 26 years, even after he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2014, and was a favorite around the league. He was also known for his special relationship with San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, which lasted until Sager’s passing.

The Warriors are looking to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Grizzlies, who are playing without star guard Ja Morant. He’s out with a knee injury after going down in Game 3, leaving Memphis shorthanded.
However, Golden State is also dealing with some personnel issues. Head coach Steve Kerr tested positive for COVID-19 Monday and had to miss the game due to health and safety protocols, meaning top assistant coach Mike Brown moved over to the head chair. It’s an interesting situation for Brown, who was recently named the head coach of the Sacramento Kings following the Warriors’ playoff run.
However, Golden State was in pretty good hands with Brown at the helm. He had an 11-0 record as acting head coach during the 2017 playoffs while Kerr recovered from surgery.
