WATCH: Terry McLaurin snatches incredible grab away from defender, taunts Colts
The Washington Commanders snatched a win away from the Indianapolis Colts in the final seconds on Sunday behind a Terry McLaurin touchdown. With 41 seconds remaining in the game, Washington attempted a pass play that was well defended initially β leading to McLaurin scrambling to get open deep for Taylor Heinicke.
Heinicke found McLaurin sprinting down the field and tossed up a pass that his receiver made a play on, wrestling the ball away from over Stephon Gilmoreβs head. The play set up a touchdown for the Commanders with the game nearly over, leading to a 17-16 win.
Terry McLaurin taunts the Colts after game-sealing catch
McLaurin drew attention from fans around the NFL after the play however, as he took off his helmet while still on the field and began to taunt a Colts player as he walked towards his teammates. Despite removing his helmet on the field, he was not penalized β a penalty that could have cost Washington their close touchdown try.
The play drew even more attention after a similar moment took place during a Carolina Panthers loss earlier on Sunday. Panthers wideout D.J. Moore pulled in a touchdown grab that tied the game late for Carolina before the extra point attempt. Moore took off his helmet and threw it to the ground while celebrating his touchdown grab, drawing a penalty that pushed the Panthers further back for their extra point try.
