Texas court revives previously dismissed sexual assault lawsuit against Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones

A lawsuit against Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is getting another day in court. Jones was sued in 2020 over an alleged sexual assault that occurred in 2018.
A woman, identified in the case as J.G., claimed Jones kissed her “on the mouth and forcibly grabbed her without her consent” at AT&T Stadium, specifically in the Tom Landry Room.
Although the case was previously dismissed, an appellate court brought the case back after the complainant “made a good faith attempt to amend her pleadings in response to the court’s special exceptions order.”
The woman identified as J.G. is seeking damages due to “severe emotional distress,” “psychological pain and suffering” and for medical expenses.

“We always knew we were going to win because the law was on our side,” Thomas Daniel Bowers, J.G.’s representative, told The Dallas Morning News on Tuesday. “A victim’s finally going to get her day in court and that’s very important.”
Upon the initial case filing in Dallas County district court, Jones denied the accusations and said they were “malicious and hurtful.” The 80-year-old has yet to respond to the latest developments in the suit.
The incident allegedly took place on September 16, 2018. The Cowboys hosted the New York Giants and won that day.
According to J.G.’s attorney, the case could proceed to trial following a deposition by Jones.
