Darnell Washington reacts to having third best short shuttle time of anyone at combine so far
To say Darnell Washington had a fantastic day at the NFL Combine would be an understatement. The Georgia tight end was the standout surprise of anyone on Saturday, showing how athletic he is in front of scouts, general managers, and coaches. Washington’s draft stock is truly on the rise after eye-popping performances.
While the 40-yard dash will get a ton of attention, the short shuttle from Washington might be his most impressive performance. He currently has the third fastest time, with the offensive lineman and running backs still having to go on Sunday.
There is a slight difference between Washington and the field. Nobody at his height or weight will come close to his time. Kansas State defensive back Julius Brent was 0.03 seconds ahead of Washington but four inches shorter and over 60 pounds lighter.
Nobody could believe the show Washington was putting on, even himself. He reacted to his short shuttle time via Twitter.
Washington was already considered a potential first-round pick for his frame alone. Now that teams have been able to see him work in front of their own eyes, teams might be chomping at the bit to draft him on Thursday night. An impressive day for Washington which could wind up making him some money.
