Tom Brady’s possible successor, former Florida Gators quarterback Kyle Trask, is impressing the 44-year-old veteran.

“Kyle’s done a great job from the day that he got here. He’s a very hard worker,” Brady said, per ProFootballTalk. “Kyle’s out here early, stays late, works with the younger guys. All the things you’re really looking for in a young player. This has got to be a huge priority in your life if you want to be doing this job for a long time. You’ve got to make it a huge priority.

“You really don’t know what you don’t know at this point, when you’re one year in or two years in or three years in or five years in. As somebody who’s 22 years in, what I knew at five years in is very different from what I knew at 10, and very different from what I know now.”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Trask with the 64th overall selection in the NFL Draft, bringing him in to learn from the defending Super Bowl MVP. As Trask adjusts to the life of being a professional quarterback, there’s never been a better example to learn from than Brady.

While Trask will only play in an emergency or blowout, his rookie season is as important as anyones. As he backs up Brady, the former Gators signal caller projects as the most-likely successor to the seven-time Super Bowl Champion.

While it may seem like a mundane comment, Brady’s opinion of Trask so far is high praise. As the season goes on, Trask will be a sponge, soaking up all the football prowess Brady displays as the Buccaneers try to win another Super Bowl.

Bruce Arians encouraged by Kyle Trask

While Tom Brady is offering praise for Kyle Trask, so is Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians. Prior to the Buccaneers first game of the preseason, Arians made note that Trask has been impressing him in practice.

“Really good. He was outstanding in every snap he had today,” said Arians, via the team’s Twitter account. “Got the ball out of his hands. The last one was probably his only – it wasn’t even a bad throw, there wasn’t anybody open. Fundamentally, he’s really getting better, and I like where he’s at.”

While playing for Florida, Trask impressed enough to be considered a potential first-round draft pick in the NFL Draft. While the Buccaneers rookie may be disappointed he fell to the last pick of the second round, Tampa Bay’s elated he was available for them to select.

It’s an exercise in futility to predict when Tom Brady will retire. However, so far, so good on the eventual possible succession plan for the Buccaneers and Kyle Trask.
