Tony Siragusa, the former Baltimore Ravens star who also worked as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports, died Wednesday, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay announced. No cause of death was announced at the time of publication.

Siragusa, 55, was a part of the Ravens’ Super Bowl XXXV team in 2000 and after starting his career with the Colts. After he retired, he worked for Fox from 2003 to 2015 as a sideline reporter and analyst.

Irsay shared the news via Twitter.

“The Goose, Tony [Siragusa] has passed away at 55,” Irsay wrote. “I’m heart broken as is all of Colts Nation.”

Irsay then wrote another tweet to pay tribute to Siragusa, nicknamed “Goose.”

“The Goose squeezed 200 fun loving years into 55!!” Irsay tweeted. “He was one of the most physically strongest players I have ever seen in 50 years. … In Greece, they would ask 1 question at the end of one’s life; Did He Have Passion? In Tony’s case..Yes He Did!!”

Siragusa, who starred at Pittsburgh, played 12 years in the NFL with the Colts and Ravens on their respective defensive lines. He totaled 564 tackles, 22.0 sacks and five forced fumbles over his career.

One of Siragusa’s former Ravens teammates, Jamal Lewis, spoke about his death in an interview with TMZ.

“It’s a sad day to be a Raven I must say,” Lewis said.

Tony Siragusa’s death adds to a rough day for Ravens fans. Linebacker Jaylon Ferguson passed away Wednesday at the age of 25 just a few months before his fourth season in the NFL.

Baltimore released a statement regarding the news, sending out a heartfelt message to everyone who knew Ferguson. They said Ferguson was a “kind” and “respectful” man who lit up the room whenever he entered it.

“We a profoundly saddened by the tragic passing of Jaylon Ferguson,” the statement read. “He was a kind, respectful young man with a big smile and infectious personality. We express our heartfelt condolences to Jaylon’s family and friends as we mourn a life lost much too soon.”

Ferguson was drafted by the Ravens in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft and had become a consistent part of the rotation on the edge. As a rookie, he played in 14 games and made nine starts. During the past two seasons, Ferguson made 24 appearances but just one start, totaling 67 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and 4.5 sacks throughout his career.
