News of Tony Siragusa’s death sent shockwaves across the NFL Wednesday. But a video resurfaced that added another layer to his passing.

Siragusa passed away Wednesday at the age of 55. The former Fox analyst and NFL star was popular across the league, which is why the news hit so hard.

But a clip of Siragusa during an interview with Howard Stern resurfaced shortly after the news broke. It features “Goose” talking about his dad’s passing, and what he wanted once his time came.

“If I die tomorrow, I told my wife [to] put a smile on my face,” Siragusa said. “Put a little Sinatra on.”

Then, he talked about the night his dad died.

“We go out, we go to the mall, we had a drink together,” Siragusa said. “It was a great day. First beer I ever had with my dad, it was cool. … We had a bunch of people over to the house, we had a big barbecue. Then in the middle of the night, I hear my mother screaming.

“Me and my brother went in there, he was gasping for air. We don’t know CPR. My father was probably going, ‘What the hell are you guys doing to me?’ I’m trying to push his chest and stuff. … We were just holding onto him. It felt [waiting] like the ambulance to get there was like a month. We were just like, ‘Oh, my god, when’s it going to get here?'”

Tony Siragusa, former Fox analyst and Baltimore Ravens star, dead at 55

Tony Siragusa, the former Baltimore Ravens star who also worked as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports, died Wednesday, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay announced. No cause of death was announced at the time of publication.

Siragusa, 55, was a part of the Ravens’ Super Bowl XXXV team in 2000 and after starting his career with the Colts. After he retired, he worked for Fox from 2003 to 2015 as a sideline reporter and analyst.

Irsay shared the news via Twitter.

“The Goose, Tony [Siragusa] has passed away at 55,” Irsay wrote. “I’m heart broken as is all of Colts Nation.”

Irsay then wrote another tweet to pay tribute to Siragusa, nicknamed “Goose.”

“The Goose squeezed 200 fun loving years into 55!!” Irsay tweeted. “He was one of the most physically strongest players I have ever seen in 50 years. … In Greece, they would ask 1 question at the end of one’s life; Did He Have Passion? In Tony’s case..Yes He Did!!”

Siragusa, who starred at Pittsburgh, played 12 years in the NFL with the Colts and Ravens on their respective defensive lines. He totaled 564 tackles, 22.0 sacks and five forced fumbles over his career.
