Trentyn Flowers — On3’s No. 8 overall prospect in the 2024 class — was terrific for Combine Academy (Lincolnton, N.C.) in their win over The Skill Factory (Atlanta, Ga.) over the weekend.

The 6-foot-8 wing backed his ranking, finishing with 15 first-half points and missing only a single shot. Flowers excelled in the mid-range and can create his own shot using his size to his advantage to shoot over the top of the defense. He also got to the cup and finished well around the rim, using his craftiness and strength. By the time the final buzzer sounded, Flowers led all scorers with 23 points (9-12 FG) and nine rebounds.

Despite being one of the top players in the 2024 class, the work and development never stops.

“I’ve been working on my three ball a lot,” he says. “I’m just trying to dominate all four quarters.”

Currently, Flowers is down to a long list of 13 schools: Oklahoma, Creighton, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Arkansas, Louisville, Oregon, Georgetown, Georgia State, Kansas, Alabama, and Kentucky (no offer).

Future visits, a list cut, and a decision timetable

Thus far, Flowers has taken official visits to Oklahoma, Louisville, Creighton, and Georgia State. With one more junior year official visit remaining, he is looking at either Georgetown, Florida State, or Kentucky for his final stop before getting five fresh official visits during his senior year.

Flowers also says he hopes to cut his list of 13 schools down to five or six by February or March.

While he does not have an exact commitment timeline, Flowers says a decision “could happen anytime. For me, it’s all about wherever is best, and the place that’s the best fit for me and my family.”

Flowers has also taken unofficial visits to Georgetown, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech.

Flowers talks a handful of schools involved

Creighton: “My favorite thing about Creighton is just the personalities of the people. Everybody is amazing. It’s really a family environment. They have a great coaching staff and they believe in me a lot. I couldn’t really ask for more from a coaching staff like that. Coach Jalen Courtney-Williams hits me every day. That’s my guy.”

Arkansas: ‘I’m hearing from Arkansas a lot. Coach Muss has reached out to me personally. He’s a great dude. The way they’re playing Anthony Black, he and I are kind of similar. That’s how coach Muss sees me coming in and playing. It’s a good fit too. I might take an official visit there during my senior year.

Oklahoma: “The midwest is an amazing place to be. Coach (Porter) Moser has a great thing going on over there.”

Scouting Summary

“Trentyn Flowers has a great frame with solid length and positional size,” On3’s Jamie Shaw writes. “In the 6-foot-8 range, Flowers is a fluid athlete with explosive pop that shows around the rim. Flowers has smooth mechanics on his jump shot, with a high and consistent release. In game, his balance can get a little off, which leads to some misses, but overall he is a threat from beyond the arc. Flowers will need to continue adding weight. He has shown a toughness on the boards and instincts in the passing lanes. His decision-making will need to tighten as he can get sped up at times, but that will come as he continues to get more game reps. Flowers has a unique skill set for a player his size; he has grown more than five inches since entering high school. Incredible upside with a player who is already producing.”
