Former Alabama star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has enjoyed a number of prolific performances during the 2022 NFL season. His most memorable performance came against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 18. With his team trailing by 21 points in the fourth quarter, he led the Dolphins to a stunning 42-38 comeback victory.

Tagovailoa threw for an NFL record-tying four touchdown passes in the fourth quarter in the historic comeback victory. On Friday morning, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on Twitter that Tua Tagovailoa’s jersey was now enshrined in Canton.

Tagovailoa entered rarified air with his historic performance against the Baltimore Ravens

Against the Ravens, Tagovailoa completed 36 of his 50 pass attempts for 469 yards, while tossing six touchdowns and two interceptions. The 469 passing yards were a career-best mark, as were the six touchdown passes–which tied him for the second-most in NFL history for a single game. The former Alabama star also posted a passer rating of 124.1, the best mark of his NFL career.

The six touchdown passes put him in the company of Dan Marino and Bob Griese as the only Miami Dolphin quarterbacks to throw that many touchdowns in a single game. The win also marked the NFL’s first fourth-quarter comeback of 21-plus points in 12 years, per ESPN’s Jeff Darlington.

Tagovailoa also took a blowtorch to the Lions’ secondary last week and got their defensive backs coach fired, after he cooked them for 382 passing yards and three touchdowns, while completing 29 of his 36 attempts.

According to Next Gen Stats, Tagovailoa has twice as many completions (32) to the middle of the field over 10 air yards as any other QB in the NFL this season, despite missing two games due to injury.

The Dolphins’ devastating wide receiver combination of Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill have been flat out unstoppable for much of the season. As you can see above, the Pro Football Hall of Fame also decided to put Waddle’s jersey in Canton as well. So, there will now be two former Alabama players’ jerseys enshrined in the same case in the Hall of Fame. That honor is well deserved.

Next up for the Dolphins will be the Chicago Bears. They will face off on Sunday, Nov. 6. Kickoff for that one is slated for 1:00 PM EST.
