USA Today Coaches Poll released after Week 1 of 2022-23 college basketball season
The USA TODAY Coaches Poll Top 25 has been refreshed following the first week of college basketball action. Week 1 featured very few high-profile matchups, which means little movement going into Week 2. However, the upcoming slate will prove to be much more consequential.
The No. 2 Gonzaga Bulldogs have a big week coming up after a 2-0 start. They face No. 11 Texas on Wednesday before the much-hyped neutral site game versus No. 4 Kentucky on Sunday. No. 6 Baylor also takes on No. 14 Virginia on Friday.
Though the schedule was unimpressive, multiple ranked teams slipped in Week 1. The Tennessee Volunteers, which started the season at No. 11 in the AP top 25, fell to Colorado 78-66 on Sunday. Villanova also lost to Temple 68-64 and the Oregon Ducks came up short versus UC Irvine with a final score of 69-56.
