WATCH: Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Ward makes spectacular catch
Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Ward made the catch of the year today against the Dallas Cowboys. On a fake punt, Ward was lobbed a pass from Chris Banjo. He then leaped in the air and Dallas cornerback Nashon Wright was draped all over him. As the ball came to him, Ward trapped the ball on the side of Wright’s helmet as they were going to the ground.
It’s one of the best catches of the year, without a doubt. Watch it.
The 22-yard catch by Ward will go down as one of the best catches of the 2021-2022 NFL season. What an unreal grab.
Ward played his college football at Central Michigan. In 2019, he rushed for 1,108 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. As a receiver, he also pulled in 34 catches for 329 receiving yards, while bringing in one touchdown. His season-high of rushing yards in 2019 came against Albany, when he rushed for 158.
For his entire college career with the Chippewas, he rushed for 2,539 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also displayed a soft set of hands in his college career, hauling in over 900 receiving yards and four touchdowns during his time there.

Ward has been in the NFL for two years, but rest assured, he’ll probably never make a play that’s going to top that catch. What an amazing grab. It’s similar to the catch that former New York Giant David Tyree made in the 2008 Super Bowl.
Ward signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2020. In 2021, he’s had seven rushes for 30 yards in limited game action.
The Cardinals defeated the Cowboys today, 25-22. Dallas suffered a major injury, as Jerry Jones reported after the game that wide receiver Michael Gallup tore his ACL and he’ll be done for the season.
