WATCH: Draymond Green trash talks Peyton Manning on ManningCast
During the Mannings’ alternate Monday Night Football broadcast, Draymond Green was encouraged to trash talk Peyton Manning by his brother Eli. Draymond didn’t take long to come up with an insult that stung the Hall of Fame quarterback, by reminding him that the Indianapolis Colts cut him from the team.
Draymond Green stings Peyton Manning
In the latest fun chapter of the “ManningCast” as the San Francisco 49ers took on the Los Angeles Rams, three-time NBA champion Draymond Green was one of their guests. Eli Manning asked Green during his third quarter appearance about the reputation Green has a trash-talker in the NBA.
Eli then asked their guest what kind of trash talk he would give to Peyton if he was trying to get into his head. Without much of a delay, Green attacked Peyton on one of the sadder moments of his career.
“As great as you’re supposed to be, the Colts cut you.”
The moment Green was referring to was after the Colts had selected Andrew Luck in the NFL draft following a string of surgeries Manning needed to have. Colts owner Jim Irsay made the difficult decision to cut their star quarterback as they transitioned into the next era of Colts football.
As Eli began to laugh at another person taking shots at his brother, Peyton nodded his head and acknowledged the insult stung him more than anything else he’d heard that night.

After the trio of champions laughed about the moment, Peyton made sure to reference Eli’s golf swing as the broadcast mocked him earlier in the evening.
Green then took the chance to tell Peyton how much respect he had for him and that he was thankful that Peyton’s final pass of his career went to a fellow Michigan State player. Bennie Fowler caught the final pass thrown of Manning’s career in Super Bowl 50, a two-point conversion.
Eli Manning’s player mix-up
During Monday night’s game, Rams defensive tackle and reigning defensive player of the year Aaron Donald broke through the 49ers’ offensive line virtually untouched on a play. He found himself in the backfield and made the tackle for a loss of one on second down. Eli, in a critique of the 49ers offensive line said “you might want to block Aaron Darnold.”
Peyton caught his younger brother’s mistake and helped correct it while poking a little fun at him.
“Or Donald, either one,” Peyton said to point out the incorrect pronunciation of the last name.
After a little back and forth between the two, Eli gave a hilarious explanation for the error.
“They thought he was [Sam] Darnold that’s why they didn’t block him. If they knew he was Donald, they would’ve blocked him,” explained Eli.
