WATCH: Former Georgia TE Darnell Washington clocks 4.65 unofficial 40-yard dash
Darnell Washington is among the most impressive and unparalleled athletes at the 2023 NFL Combine. And the former Georgia tight end clocked an impressive initial 40-yard dash time on Saturday evening.
The 6-foot-6, 264 pound behemoth clocked a 4.65 40-yard dash, one of the fastest among the tight ends running on Saturday. He was a tad slower on his second run, hitting a 4.68 40.
Either way, it’s a remarkable time for a player with borderline offensive tackle size at tight end.
And with a 31-inch vertical and 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump, Washington probably worked his way up a few draft boards with his NFL combine showing on Saturday.

On his first run of the day, Schoonmaker posted a time of 4.65 seconds. He followed that up with a slightly better time of 4.63 on his second run. That second time ranks him fifth among all tight ends who participated Saturday.
In addition to his 40-yard dash time, Schoonmaker also posted the second-best broad jump among tight ends at 10-feet and seven inches. His day is not over just yet, and he still has a chance to impress even more with a few drills left to go.
This past season at Michigan was Luke Schoonmaker’s best yet, as he finished with 35 catches for 418 yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot-5, 251-pound tight end finished his college career with 54 receptions, 638 yards and seven touchdowns.
