WATCH: Trevor Lawrence scores first NFL rushing TD
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence scored his first rushing touchdown of his young NFL career on Thursday Night Football as the Jaguars took a 14-0 lead over Cincinnati with less than five minutes before halftime.
Trevor Lawrence has been efficient against the Bengals, completing nine of 13 attempts for 120 yards, adding 26 yards on the ground through nearly two quarters of play.
The No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft is dueling against former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow in a battle of No. 1 picks. Burrow has thrown for 95 yards on eight completions through nearly two quarters of play.
Trevor Lawrence’s rookie season hasn’t gotten off to the start anyone expected. Entering Thursday’s game, the Clemson product has thrown for 669 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions, completing just 54.2 percent of his passes.
At Clemson, Trevor Lawrence threw for 10,098 yards and 90 touchdowns in three seasons, leading the Tigers to a 34-2 record as the starter. Lawrence led the Tigers to a national championship as a freshman, earned first-team All-American in 2020 and first-team All-ACC as a sophomore and junior, before declaring for the NFL.

Jacksonville has yet to win a game in Lawrence’s rookie year and Urban Meyer’s first season as an NFL head coach. The Jaguars opened the season with double-digit point losses to the Houston Texans, Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals. Jacksonville sits at the bottom of the AFC South along with the Indianapolis Colts, who sit at 0-3.
Through the first half of Thursday’s game, Meyer and Trevor Lawrence are on track for their first win of their NFL careers.
Jacksonville opened the scoring on the second drive of the game, driving 67 yards down the field in eight plays, capped off by running back James Robinson’s six-yard rushing touchdown. Robinson has rushed for 64 yards and one touchdown, averaging 5.3 yards per carry.
