LA Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert continues to set the National Football League on fire. In the fourth quarter against the Denver Broncos, he tossed a 45-yard touchdown bomb to his receiver, Mike Williams.

With the touchdown strike, Herbert threw his 35th touchdown pass of the 2021-2022 season, the most by any quarterback in Chargers’ franchise regular season history. He broke the single-season mark set by Philip Rivers in 2008, when he tossed 34 touchdown passes.

For the game, Herbert completed 22 of his 31 pass attempts for 237 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Chargers routed the Broncos 34-13 and they had some other players make amazing plays in order to stay alive for a playoff spot.

Andre Roberts had a 101-yard kick return for the Chargers that helped to break the game open even more. Watch that below.

Roberts had himself an amazing day. He also had a kickoff return for 67 yards in the first quarter that put the Chargers in great field position.

As for Herbert, the former Oregon Duck has taken the league by storm the past few seasons. He won Rookie of the Year honors in 2020 and this year he’s followed it up with another sensational year.

Herbert is blessed with one of the best deep balls in the league. Not only does he have a remarkably strong arm, but he’s unbelievably accurate on his deep throws.

He tossed a touchdown pass earlier this season that NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said was the best throw he’d ever seen. It came against the New York Giants, when Herbert rolled to his right and launched an epic 65-yard dime to Jalen Guyton.

The playoff picture for Herbert and the Chargers

With the win, the Chargers eliminated the Browns, Broncos, and Dolphins all from playoff contention.

Here is a graphic from Ari Meirov that lays out the AFC Playoff picture.

As the graphic shows, the Raiders and Chargers play next week in a battle for one of the final playoff spots. The Chargers currently have a wild card spot, but they’ll need to win next week against the Raiders.
