Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux proved at his Pro Day on Friday that his NFL Draft hype is well-deserved. In front of several NFL scouts, the 6-foot-4, 254-pound Thibodeaux posted a 4.34 time in the Pro Shuttle.

The Pro Day was a big event for the defensive end, who surprised scouts and fans when he opted to only perform three drills at the NFL Combine last month. He explained his reasoning was that he wanted the option to compete in both defensive line and linebacker drills, which he wouldn’t have been able to do at the combine.

In addition to the Pro Shuttle, Kayvon Thibodeaux also participated in the broad jump (9-feet, 11-inches) and 3-cone drill (7.23 seconds) at his Pro Day. He adds those to an impressive 4.65 40-yard dash time and 1.62 10-yard split time, both recorded at the combine.

“It was great,” Thibodeaux told NFL.com following his Pro Day. “It was kind of weird because it was like 200 people watching just me work out, but I think it really went great. I was able to display my linebacker drills, my pass rush, my hands, my feet. Everything that I had been working on leading up to it.”

Thibodeaux came to Oregon as a five-star prospect and the No. 1 edge defender in the 2019 class according to On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. He immediately made an impact as a freshman, finishing with a team-high nine sacks and 14 tackles for loss. The defensive end again led Oregon this past season with seven sacks despite playing in just 10 games.

Most mock drafts have Thibodeaux going as a top 10 pick, with some even projecting him to go top five. A recent mock draft from ESPN had the Oregon product going seventh overall to the New York Giants.

“I hear about the speed of the game,” Thibodeaux said when asked what his biggest adjustment going from college to NFL would be. “Taking those moves to the next level. You can’t get away with as much as you could in college, so just being precise and making every rep count.”

The 2022 NFL Draft is set to begin April 28 in Las Vegas and will conclude April 30.
